HWIC team launches all-call for state resources
By Wendy Opsahl
Some of the most useful tools at the Health Workforce Information Center are the State Resources pages. Here, visitors can dig deep into information and resources relevant to their home state.
Visitors can find, for example, links, descriptions and contact information for workforce-related organizations in their state. They can further refine that list into specific categories, such as professional associations, foundations, or research. In just three clicks of the mouse, one can easily access the email address for Oregon’s Northwest Regional Primary Care Association, for example.
Another handy option available through State Resources is the Funding category, where visitors can connect with loan repayment programs in their state. This is an especially useful reference tool when recruiting physicians and other health care providers.
Visitors can also brush up on their state’s workforce-related news, with the most recent news appearing first. A quick scan of the Virginia state page reveals the headline: VA. Tech to Add Master’s Degree in Public Health. This story, like all of HWIC’s resources, can easily be passed along to colleagues by utilizing the quick Share and Email buttons at the top of the page.
While the State Resources pages offer a broad range of information, they are actually a work in progress, being developed more fully throughout 2009 and into the future. If you know of additional resources and information to feature for your state, please contact the team. They are currently collecting resources such as:
- Events
- Funding opportunities
- Organizations
- Publications
- Websites
- News
